PROJECT: »PAS DE FAUX«
Friday Exit is back in Vienna Art Week. We are delighted to be collaborating with Friday Exit again. This time they are presenting new “Pas de Faux” works at our space . Come and see them and tell you were missing them (they asked for it!)
The principle behind the “Pas de Faux” series is that artworks are exchanged and faked: the aesthetic idea of a work by one artist will be seized as a suggestion by another artist, freely being “copied”, interpreted and adopted.
Similar to the principle of “Chinese whispers”, the aesthetic of a work is sent on a journey. Coming back, transformed, to a starting point of a new artwork with a possibly divergent message. Additionally both artists certify the artworks. It is collective experimentation. It is the questioning of the cooperation between aesthetics and meaning, originality and authorship.
The exhibition will end with an self-organised book club on Nov 25th, 2016.

Das Prinzip der „Pas de Faux“-Serie ist es, dass künstlerische Arbeiten ausgetauscht und gefälscht werden: Der ästhetische Gedanke einer Arbeit wird von einer anderen Künstlerin bzw. einem anderen Künstler aufgegriffen, „frei“ kopiert, damit interpretiert und angeeignet. Ähnlich dem Stille- Post-Prinzip wird die Ästhetik eines Werks auf Reisen geschickt und in seiner transformierten Form zum Ausgangspunkt einer neuen Arbeit mit (womöglich) divergenter Aussage. Zusätzlich zertifizieren beide Kunstschaffenden das jeweilige Werk der „Pas de Faux“-Serie. Ein kollektives Experiment. Eine Befragung des Zusammenspiels von Ästhetik und Aussage, Original und Autor*innenschaft.
Friday Exit ist Teil von xperiment, einer Kooperation der Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien und eines offenen Kollektivs.
Die Ausstellung endet am 25. November mit einem selbst-organisierten Book-Club.
